Where can it take your career?
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy is the latest nationally accredited unit that equips you with the skills needed to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The following units will be included in your Statement of Attainment:
- HLTAID015 Provide Advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
How is the course delivered?
Training is delivered via blended learning (face-to-face and online distance components).
Course Duration:Â This course is designed to be completed in up to 8 days (contact time of 8 hours).
Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend approximately 56 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

How is the course structured?
All learners will be assessed through:
- Practical demonstrations: simulated scenarios/role playing
- Project (incident report)
- Written Assessment
What are the entry requirements?
- Current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- No other formal academic requirements needed for this unit of competency
Numeracy and Literacy
Language, literacy, and numeracy requirements are needed to undertake this course. This is assessed through Hume Health Education and Training’s pre-enrolment LLN assessment. Specifically, students would need the ability to:
- Prepare verbal incident reports or provide information to enable preparation of an incident report (e.g., a first aid report)
- Communicate effectively and assertively in an incident (e.g., give a casualty handover)
- Use literacy and numeracy skills as require reading, interpret, and apply guideline and protocols (e.g., read and follow ARC guidelines)
**Students who fail the LL&N assessment may still be enrolled to a course if endorsed by the trainer/assessor, and corresponding additional support strategies are in place.
What are the resources needed to complete the course?
To support you in your new course with Hume Health Education & Training, we will provide the following:
- Adult resuscitation manikins in line with ARC Guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures
- Infant resuscitation manikins in line with ARC Guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures
- Anatomical model for use with a basic airway adjunct
- AED training devices
- Bag-valve-mask
- Basic airway adjunct
- Oxygen resuscitation system:
- Oxygen cylinder
- Regulator
- Oxygen administration supplies – BVM, Hudson Mask & Nasal Prongs
- Airway management equipment – OPA etc
- Pulse oximeter
- Suction devices
- Selection of oxygen masks and tubes
- Different types of bandages, including:
- Roller bandages (for each pair)
- Triangular bandages (for each pair)
- Wound dressings and cleaning kits
- Tourniquet – tourniquet trainer (for each pair)
- Haemostatic Dressing – wound packing trainer (for each pair)
- Workplace First Aid kit (for each pair)
- Workplace incident, injury, trauma or illness record or other appropriate workplace or site incident report form, which includes space for recording vital signs of casualties.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE)
For your pre-course learning, students will need access to:
- A computer with Internet access which has a reliable speed of at least 5mbps
- Google Chrome (recommended browser)
- MS Word, PowerPoint, or equivalent applications
- Adobe Acrobat Reader or equivalent application
What are the course fees?
The HLTAID015 course is available for only $150.

What are the course pathways?
Students may consider completing relevant units such as:
- HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting
- HLTAID013 Provide first aid in remote or isolated site
Successful completion of these units of competency may qualify students as a first aid officer or delegate their workplace or may use these skills in their personal lives or commitments.
Is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?
Due to the nature of this course and the ARC guidelines, students will be required to do a refresher course every three years instead of getting RPL.
